A New Year's wish from both Darcy and Elizabeth mash up to create some supernatural hijinks in Haunting Mr. Darcy! While being together 24/7 helps to speed up the development of romantic feelings in our favorite couple, the fact that Elizabeth is a ghost creates some problems.
This was one of the first Pride and Prejudice variations that Emilie read (and really, one of the first that Alicia read, too!) and when comparing it to the other variations...there are thoughts. Lots of thoughts!

This week, we take a sharp turn into the world of supernatural Pride and Prejudice variations with Julie Cooper's Tempt Me, a mash up between P&P and vampire lore. Emilie thinks the world building is amazing; Alicia thinks there is a lot of blood. And discussions about blood. But, as Alicia says, we're not here to yuck other people's yum! We're just having fun trying something new.

Much like an onion, this book has layers! It's been 25 years since the events of Pride & Prejudice, and since Darcy never returned to Hertfordshire there was no "Happily Ever After" for our dear couple. But when a chance encounter results in Elizabeth BINGLEY falling in love with WILLIAM Darcy (Georgiana's son), the complications of the past two decades prove to be no match for a couple determined to be happy, no matter their age.
We're not going to lie, this book was HEAVY, but the layers of complicated stories lead to some interesting places!

Darcy is sooooo over Elizabeth Bennet...until he comes back from a trip abroad and discovers that not only has her family experienced great tragedy, but they are now tenants of his estate! Aside from discussing the plot and themes, we take a few detours to discuss whether it's wise to "think on the past only as it gives you pleasure," what our enneagram numbers are (as well as what we think the main characters might be), and why authors have so much fun with side characters in Pride & Prejudice variations.
